We spoke to director Steve Mills

How long have you been using Winner and why did you choose this software?

We’ve been using Winner for nine years. We started out with Articad but rather than generic software as Articad used to be we wanted catalogue-based software, and Compusoft offered that. With Winner we got drawings of the products we were using with all the right dimensions and all the prices listed there too.

What made you realise you needed to change from Articad to Compusoft and Winner?

We were driven in our decision by the quality of the software and Winner was just more suited to the business we were doing and the products we were selling. We sold just Hacker at the time, not Masterclass, and also our own brand which we manufactured. We wanted to take our business more towards Hacker and therefore Winner became the best solution for us.

What are the benefits of Winner?

It’s easy to use, the renders are great quality – the customers love them. And I use it as a costing/quoting tool as you can always be confident the prices are correct. This also makes things easier if you want to make changes in front of the customer. So, if we want to make a sale, I can change things and be confident that I’m not either going to lose margin or be seen to be overcharging.

Once you’ve got to grips with how to use the software it’s really easy to use. Just pop in the code from the catalogue and drag and drop it into place. And the catalogue is fantastic. For our German range (Hacker) – it’s got everything they do.

How is the customer service and support?

The support is great. Every time I have had an issue I’m never left waiting on the phone – my query is always dealt with promptly, and they’re very helpful. Now I know the software, I don’t have to call too often and can usually figure things out for myself.

What about training? Does Compusoft offer good training packages?

If you were employing a complete newbie to the industry then I would send them on one of Compusoft’s courses. They come at a cost but it’s not a burdensome cost and would be worth the money.

What effects has using Compusoft had on your business?

Using Winner saves us time and money because you’re not entering data twice and this means there are fewer mistakes. If it’s shown on the screen, it’s priced on the screen and then it’s ordered. It’s all there in one place. Having such a comprehensive system has put us head and shoulders above the rest, as our customers are so impressed with the quality of what we can produce. It makes the sale so much easier, as the visualisation is so good and customers can see exactly what they’re getting.
