{"id":38958,"date":"2020-10-19T13:57:37","date_gmt":"2020-10-19T13:57:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.compusoftgroup.com\/?page_id=38958"},"modified":"2020-10-19T13:57:37","modified_gmt":"2020-10-19T13:57:37","slug":"how-to-create-decor-areas-in-winner-design","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.compusoftgroup.com\/en-za\/how-to-create-decor-areas-in-winner-design\/","title":{"rendered":"How to create d\u00e9cor areas in Winner Design"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Since users have been drawing fitting pieces to achieve different patterned floor areas, which probably collided with units later, we decided to give an advanced insight in how easy it actually is to work with d\u00e9cor areas in Winner Design.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Tip 1:<\/strong>\u00a0 How to draw your own d\u00e9cor areas<\/h3>\n<p>First, you will need to be in the <strong>room definition mode<\/strong> to use the following features. The d\u00e9cor area tool can only be used in the elevation window.<\/p>\n<p>To set the floor as the view in the elevation window we need to click on the floor in the perspective window. The elevation will change to a 2D view of the floor. When working in the elevation the \u201c<strong>draw d\u00e9cor area<\/strong>\u201d button will be activated:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 10%;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.compusoftgroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/decor1.png\" alt=\"Null\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When the button is clicked the \u201cdraw rectangle\u201d tool is automatically selected, click once in the elevation window where you would like your d\u00e9cor area to begin. You will be shown a blue square, this is the start point. To create the area hold down the left mouse key and drag to start drawing a grid on the floor.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.compusoftgroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Decor2.png\" alt=\"Null\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If however you would prefer to draw the area line by line, after clicking the <strong>draw d\u00e9cor area<\/strong>-function you can change from the draw rectangle to draw edge by clicking the first pencil icon or simply by pressing \u201c<strong>Q<\/strong>\u201d on your keyboard to change to the <strong>Draw tool.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 20%;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.compusoftgroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Decoricon2.png\" alt=\"Null\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then you can split the as floor freely as you would like:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.compusoftgroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Decor3.png\" alt=\"Null\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This brings up a lot of new ways to design all parts of the room individually:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.compusoftgroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Decor4-1024x575.png\" alt=\"Null\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once the area is drawn, the wall or floor d\u00e9cor style can be defined by choosing a different level in the bottom right corner next to the elevation. By default, number is gets assigned:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 40%;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.compusoftgroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Decor5-300x182.png\" alt=\"Null\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Hint:<\/strong> For walls it is possible to create up to <strong>8 <\/strong>d\u00e9cor style templates and <strong>4 <\/strong>separately for each floor or ceiling.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 40%;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.compusoftgroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Decor6-300x224.png\" alt=\"Null\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To assign different materials to these templates you can enter the <strong>Edit colour settings for room and objects area<\/strong> by clicking <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-37947\" src=\"https:\/\/www.compusoftgroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Picture28.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"34\" height=\"30\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.compusoftgroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Picture28.png 94w, https:\/\/www.compusoftgroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Picture28-45x40.png 45w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 34px) 100vw, 34px\" \/>\u00a0or <strong>F9<\/strong> on the keyboard when no item or surface is selected:<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Tip 2:<\/strong> Patterning the room<\/h2>\n<p>Using the different templates from tip 1 is also very useful for drawing d\u00e9cor areas with ornaments when for example <strong>every second tile<\/strong> needs to be in another style or a <strong>patterned border <\/strong>is desired:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 40%;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.compusoftgroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Decor7-300x222.png\" alt=\"Null\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Every d\u00e9cor area can be selected by using the <strong>Select tool<\/strong> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-38004\" src=\"https:\/\/www.compusoftgroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Picture8a.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"31\" height=\"30\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.compusoftgroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Picture8a.png 82w, https:\/\/www.compusoftgroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Picture8a-45x44.png 45w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 31px) 100vw, 31px\" \/>. With this function it is possible to move the area when the cursor turns into <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-38023\" src=\"https:\/\/www.compusoftgroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Picture8b.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"37\" height=\"30\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.compusoftgroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Picture8b.png 83w, https:\/\/www.compusoftgroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Picture8b-45x37.png 45w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 37px) 100vw, 37px\" \/>\u00a0or to enlarge the area when the cursor turns into <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-38042\" src=\"https:\/\/www.compusoftgroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Picture8c.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"54\" height=\"30\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.compusoftgroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Picture8c.png 102w, https:\/\/www.compusoftgroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Picture8c-100x56.png 100w, https:\/\/www.compusoftgroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Picture8c-45x25.png 45w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 54px) 100vw, 54px\" \/>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hint:<\/strong> Every d\u00e9cor area has a snapping point on each outside line, one per edge and one in the middle to use the functions mentioned above.<\/p>\n<p>When patterning, it is not necessary to draw every single tile anew. By marking a few of them it is possible to move many areas at once and to use the common shortcuts <strong>CTRL+C<\/strong> to copy and <strong>CTRL+V<\/strong> to insert a few tiles again:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 70%;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.compusoftgroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/decor8.jpg\" alt=\"Null\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>By choosing a specific d\u00e9cor using the <strong>Select tool<\/strong> and then right-clicking on it in the elevation view you can enter the <strong>Room surface d\u00e9cor properties<\/strong>. Here it is possible to define the <strong>tile cutting policy<\/strong>, which means if not all tiles can be shown on a wall or floor completely, on which side the tile should get cut, i.e.:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 70%;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.compusoftgroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/decor9.jpg\" alt=\"Null\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When clicking further into <strong>Lock to edges\u2026<\/strong> with the button below the tile cutting policy it is possible to define to which edge a drawn d\u00e9cor should be locked:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 35%;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.compusoftgroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Picture11-300x242.png\" alt=\"Null\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The setting above would, for example, mean that this drawn d\u00e9cor is bound to the right and bottom edge and the width should be preserved. If the wall now gets adjusted (lengthened), the tiles will stay locked at the right side:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.compusoftgroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Picture12.png\" alt=\"Null\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If the option <strong>Do not keep width or height<\/strong> would be used, the d\u00e9cor would be adjusted at the same rate that the wall is adjusted.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Tip 3:<\/strong> Saving the d\u00e9cor style templates in the room palette<\/h3>\n<p>Of course, it is also possible to save the previously defined <strong>d\u00e9cor style templates<\/strong> for future alternatives. To achieve this right-click into the plan view and choose <strong>Room colours<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Save room palette as\u2026<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 30%;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.compusoftgroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Picture13-300x226.png\" alt=\"Null\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After naming the template it will be available for all future alternatives using <strong>Fetch room palette<\/strong> also via <strong>Room colours<\/strong> in the plan view to get to the following <strong>Room palette selector<\/strong> to choose from:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 45%;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.compusoftgroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Picture14-300x83.png\" alt=\"Null\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Hint:<\/strong> In these templates, the <strong>Room surface d\u00e9cor properties<\/strong> of the materials chosen in Tip 2 also get saved and are <strong>valid in new alternatives<\/strong> directly.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Tip 4:<\/strong> Room surface material usage<\/h3>\n<p>Additionally, it is possible to always know the planned square meterage of the different tile or material types using the <strong>Room surface material usage <\/strong>screen. To get there you simply do a right-click on the floor in <strong>plan view<\/strong> and choose <strong>tile usage<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 50%;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.compusoftgroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/decor10.jpg\" alt=\"Null\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Tip 5:<\/strong> \u00a0Usage of invisible material #3003.<\/h3>\n<p>The invisible material #3003 can be used easily by entering the ID 3003 directly on the top right corner of the <strong>Edit colour settings for room and objects area:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 40%;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.compusoftgroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Picture16-300x224.png\" alt=\"Null\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It can be used in many ways. For the following it has been drawn as a small d\u00e9cor area on the floor using the previous Tip 1 and then assigned the invisible material #3003 to it:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 70%;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.compusoftgroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/decor11.jpg\" alt=\"Null\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This part of the floor is now invisible and the stairs put under the floor appear.
